Taq DNA polymerase is a DNA dependent polymerase consisting of a single polypeptide chain with a molecular weight of approximately 95,000 daltons. DNA synthesis proceeds in the 5' -> 3' direction. It requires the presence of dNTP's and a template-primer DNA. The enzyme is thermostable and exhibits optimal activity at 75°C.
The highly processive and thermostable Taq DNA polymerase is suitable for primer-dependent DNA labeling or DNA sequencing particularly since the reaction can proceed at high temperature (75°C).
This product is purified according to methods developed at Worthington.
Stability: Stable at -20°C when undiluted. If necessary, dilute the enzyme in storage buffer containing 0.1% nuclease-free BSA (Worthington Code BSANF). Storage bufer, 50 mM potassium phosphate, pH 7.4, 1 mM DTT and 20% glycerol.
Storage: Store at -20°C.
Unit Definition: 1 unit incorporates 10 nanomoles of total deoxynucleotide into acid insoluble products with activated calf thymus DNA (Worthington code DNAACT) as template primer in 30 minutes at 37°C.
